Place Strategy

We are passionate about creating and nurturing places that bring people together, support nature and help businesses thrive.

We have extensive experience in conceiving and commissioning award-winning strategies for places at different scales and responding to different challenges and opportunities. Our approach is collaborative and based on partnership working and co-design with local and strategic stakeholders. We work closely with local authorities, strategic agencies, landowners, developers, cultural institutions, local community groups, business improvement districts, environmental charities, NGOs and funding agencies.

We will often craft long-term creative narratives for places - the antithesis to a masterplan approach. This narrative-based approach provides a flexible framework around which to galvanise support from different parts of the community, and can be helpful unlocking resource - allowing individual projects to be incrementally delivered over time.

We have worked with a range of project partners, engaging multidisciplinary teams to develop place strategies for street corridors, neighbourhoods and individual public spaces. We also have experience working at sub-regional scales along linear infrastructure including rail viaducts and river corridors.

We have successfully shaped award-winning place strategies around low emissions neighbourhoods, cultural placemaking, place innovation and climate adaptation and mitigation.

We love to get ‘under the skin’ of a place, to work creatively and sensitively with local stakeholders to establish a robust and site-specific approach to each individual brief.

We can help you think creatively about the challenges and opportunities your place faces, help shape your project brief and work with you to develop the right strategy to nurture and sustain its future.
