While working for Better Bankside Valerie conceived, secured funding for and delivered two innovative trial and prototype projects as part of Transport for London's Future Streets Incubator programme.

Bankside  Boardwalk tested the re-tuning of a busy street by extending the pavement at grade to support an expanded public realm. This additional space supports increased footfall and provides space for dwell time and social interaction. The modular system afforded flexibility to respond to the street geometry.  Delivered in 2018 this system is now prevalent post-pandemic as many high streets have expanded their public realm.

Colourful Crossings delivered in 2014/15 sought to address pedestrian crossing behaviour by making pelican crossings more visible through commissioning engaging artistic interventions in the street.
